Data are AI’s best friend – how to apply machine learning to heat treatment

In modern production processes, data are recorded and processes monitored with sensors in almost all process steps in order to meet the requirements with regard to dimensional and form tolerances as well as functional characteristics of a component in high quality. Utilizing this process data poses several challenges. The lecture gives a general introduction into the exploitation of these data using machine learning methods.

Tailored Steel Microstructures for Fatigue Applications

Hybridization and E-mobility requires products that provide reliable solutions for localized fatigue behavior due to the downsizing of components. In recent years, new steel microstructures such as ultrafine-grained and nanostructured bainitic microstructures have been developed and their fatigue properties have been investigated. The present work combines the well-known performances of nanostructured bainitic steels with a secondary precipitation mechanism.
